Remembrance Day

On Friday 9th November, Year 5 and 6 went to Kneller Hall for the Remembrance Day Service. I read a poem to represent Nelson School and it was called ‘Anthem for Doomed Youth’. I was extremely nervous but thankfully hard work and constant practising paid off! I had such an amazing time.

Remember the fallen who fought for us, Remember the brave and the courageous.
Remember the people who lost their sisters and brothers,
Remember the people who lost their others.
Remember, on this sad November day,
Remember the poor men and horses who are 100 today.
Remember how terrifying war must have been,
Remember that they saw things they didn’t want to see.
Remember the lives that were taken aside,
Remember, show off your poppies today with pride.
