Meet our Governors

Marion Benemar

Having taught in a variety of secondary schools in England for over 17 years, my knowledge of the education system would be useful in helping Nelson to continue developing. I have observed many lessons and worked with new and experienced teachers over the years. I have been a Head of Department for over ten years. I would welcome the chance to support the school, offering a slightly different perspective and some constructive criticism.

Caroline Crosdale

II am Deputy Head, SENCo and Governor of an ‘Outstanding’ Academy and have been part of leading, supporting and shaping the school on its journey to Outstanding. I understand the role of a governor as a critical friend to the leadership, whilst offering experience, support and appropriate challenge where needed.

Nelson primary is a great school and I would love the opportunity to support the school in achieving the very best outcomes for all children who attend.

Madeleine Maguire

Madeleine has an extensive background education, teaching at all levels from 6th Form to University.  She was Chair of Governors’ at a local secondary school for many years and joined Latchmere Academy Trust in 2018  as a Trustee becoming Chair of Governors at Nelson School last November. She is also a dedicated volunteer for different  local charities.

Rachel Somers

My name is Rachel and I have two girls at Nelson, in year 2 and year 4. I am not a teacher or indeed work in education, like most of you I am a working parent who is passionate about my children’s education and the future of Nelson School.

Like many of you I have been at Nelson through all the ups and downs of recent years, and I would like to be part of the amazing transformation that Nelson is going through. My aim is to help Nelson become the school at the heart of the community that everyone wants to go to.
