Daily meal options include:

  • Vegetarian choice
  • Jacket potato
  • Salad bar & fresh fruit are available daily
  • Jelly or fresh fruit ( Mon-Thur) dessert on Fridays
All school meals are free and  can be ordered using the ParentPay website at www.parentpay.com.
If you need an activation code (a separate one is issued for each child) or if you have problems using the system, please email info@nelsonschool.org

Once you have activated your account, you can select/amend the meals for your children on the tab called:

  • Make bookings’ once booked, you can view your bookings on the tab called:
  • ‘View menus and choices’
  • Meal choices will usually be locked 7 days before the week that they will be eaten. Please choose and book your child's meal before midnight, on a Monday, if you want a meal for the following week.

If we do not receive a ParentPay booking for your child, they will automatically be registered in our system as having a packed lunch from home.
Fresh fruit and salad are available daily. Our homemade pizza sauce & tomato sauce contains 5 different vegetables.

From September 2023, all children are entitled to a school meal free of charge.

Free School Meals/Pupil Premium Grant

Every child who is registered with Free School Meals/Pupil Premium Grant eligibility attracts funding for the school from the Government. This is used to enhance educational opportunities for all of our pupils. Even though your child receives  a meal free of charge,  it is very important to us that you continue to claim FSM eligibility.

Packed Lunches

Some children bring a packed lunch to school. If your child brings a packed lunch it is important that it is suitable and will give them the energy to work and play in the afternoon! As such they should not bring in fizzy drinks, crisps, sweets or chocolate. We have children in school who suffer from severe allergies to different foods, particularly nuts. Nut based foods are not allowed in packed lunches. However, we cannot guarantee that the school is a nut-free environment. For advice on the contents of a nutritious and healthy packed lunch please refer to https://www.nhs.uk/healthier-families/recipes/healthier-lunchboxes/#recipes

Children are permitted to have break time snacks but this is restricted to fresh fruit. We believe that this policy is also in the interest of dental hygiene and a healthy diet.

Any questions?

If you have any queries or want to discuss any aspect of school lunches, please contact us. First stop is the school office where, once we know the nature of your query we can direct it to the right person.
