Breakfast Club

The Nelson Breakfast Club provides breakfast and care for Nelson children from Reception to Year 6 from 7.35am to school start time each day. It provides safe and creative play and care for children before the school day begins. It is open on all school days and is located in the school gym.
Children may arrive from 7.35am. Parents and children should enter by the side gates and drop their child at the school gym, where they will be registered (Year 6 children may walk independently). There are activities, books and games available for the children.

If you would like your child to have breakfast, please ensure that they arrive before 8.20am as the school will finish serving food after then, to allow for the gym to be cleared for later use.

Breakfast comprises a choice of cereals and toast, together with juice or milk.

The Breakfast Club is staffed by members of the Nelson team.

The cost is £6.50 per day per child. Fees are payable termly in advance and are not refundable if your child does not attend. All fees are payable via Parentpay. We do accept Childcare Vouchers. Financial help may be available for families of children who are experiencing financial difficulty or are eligible for the Pupil Premium grant. – please contact the school office manager in confidence to discuss this further.

Applying for a place

If you would like to apply for a place for your child, please complete an application form and return to the school office as soon as possible. You may apply for your child to attend for five days a week, or alternatively for specific days in the week (eg. Mondays and Thursdays). The pattern of days you choose must be the same each week. We regret that we are unable to take ‘ad hoc’ or casual bookings at this stage. Places will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served basis’. You will then be notified as to whether or not you have been successful in securing a place. If we cannot offer you a place immediately, we will put your child on a waiting list.

The club will operate in line with the school’s behaviour policy, which we expect all children to comply with.
